The fad that needs to end

End this fad NOW!

Bryce Harper is an incredibly talented young baseball player who has won me over with his intensity, passion, and energy.  However, I will never forgive him for promoting the fad of “eye black disgrace.”  That’s my term.

He’s certainly not the first to wear eye black that way but he certainly made it famous.  Few things in the game right now irritate me more than purposely smearing eye black like the pictures show.

I was never an eye black wearer because I never thought it worked even a little bit.  I never looked down on others who did, though, because maybe it worked for them.  If you are in that category, by all means wear it.  But wear it right!

I'll never forgive him.

I blame the coaches more than the players.  Young players don’t know any better.  Coaches should.  Have them respect the game by wearing their uniforms (and eye black) correctly.
