Tip for backhand footwork

In a previous post, I described the basic footwork of the backhand play.  There I explained when a player would lead with their left foot forward and when they would lead with their right foot forward when backhanding a ground ball.  Today’s video post will show another key detail involved with the feet when a player is backhanding a ground ball with his right foot forward on a ball that is not far away but still has to be backhanded.  As you get older, the little things matter more.  Here is another of those little things that can make a big difference.

Note: I will do a video of this in the future so readers can see it in action but if you want one now, check out this video clip from YouTube HERE from the master of infield coaching, Perry Hill.  For some reason, there is no sound to the video but you can still see the footwork involved.
